Prior to assignment Western Nursing Services caregivers are required to have:
- Current license or certification in the state where he or she practices
- Updated continuing education certificate, where applicable
- Recent CPR (BLS/ACLS) training where applicable
- Physical exam, TB testing, vaccinations
- State criminal background checks
- Drug screening, where applicable
- Hepatitis B declination
- Yearly inservices
- Hippa guidelines
- Job description
- Job-related skills tests
Orientation for all Western employees also includes:
An orientation plan will be developed by Western Nursing Services that includes:
· Patient care policies and procedures
· Administrative policies and procedures
· Job description as related to discipline
· Safety routines: infection control, blood bourne infections, home care emergency action, chemical hazcon program, medical facilitities emergency preparedness
- General description of each nursing assignment
- On-site orientation of the facility and individual nursing units
- Western Nursing Services responsibilities may include:
- Explanations of Western's policies and procedures
- Review of written portion of medical facility's orientation
